Bioidentical Hormone Specialists for Over 20 Years
There has been a great deal in the news about Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), and as a naturopathic physician, I am thankful every time lifestyle, dietary and botanical treatments are included in the discussions.
A safe and healthy remedy for balancing hormones, Bioidentical Hormones are derived from natural sources (such as soybeans and wild yam) to exactly mimic the molecular structure of the hormones your body should produce naturally. Unlike synthetic hormones, bioidenticals match your own biochemistry, so your body can process the therapy more easily, with little or no side effects.
In the conventional medical world, HRT is usually managed with synthetic hormones, which can produce unhealthy side effects. Many women are unaware they have a safer option for balancing their hormones. There are natural, bioidentical hormones as well, which have proven to be very successful for many women.
Typically, you’ll start with our innovative diagnostic test, the Female Hormone Panel, which tracks hormonal patterns over a period of time (e.g., your menstrual cycle). The recommended therapy will then be based on your needs, goals, symptoms, and lab levels. We work closely with you to monitor your progress and may adjust dosages and hormone medicines as needed to support you’re healing.

Keys to safe Bioidentical Hormone Therapy treatments
When hormones prescriptions are used in treatment, we want to make them safe and efficient in the body. Following are some important factors to ensuring safety:
BioIdentical Hormones — Bioidentical hormones are structured to exactly mirror the structure of the hormone naturally secreted by the body. Non-bioidentical (or modified) hormones do not match this natural structure and therefore can cause excessive binding or unstable and incomplete binding to the hormone receptor sites, which cause different effects. The liver was not meant to process non-bioidentical hormones, so the processing is slower and those hormones can accumulate in the body.
Best-Type Hormone Preparation — Bio-identical hormones are more suitable for longer term use than the synthetics.
Safest Route of Administration – Use the safest and most efficient hormone treatment, personalized to your needs. There are many options from which to choose, including: oral, sublingual, buccal, nasal, transdermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and vaginal. Talk with your doctor about what’s most comfortable for you.
Simultaneously Correct All Important Hormone Deficiencies — The body uses hormones in balance with one another, and major goal is to mimic nature in the balance intended. This is a safer approach. For example, thyroid replacement treatment is not well tolerated if a person also has a cortisol deficiency. Similarly, estradiol treatment, when balanced with bio-identical progesterone, is safer and better tolerated by the body.
Correct Startup for Treatment — Some hormones require working up to the therapeutic dose, while others are best started at the therapeutic dose.
Follow-up Appointments and Testing — Regular check-ins with your doctor ensures better safety, and allows for fine-tuning of your treatment based upon changes in diet, work, sports, sleep, disease, and stress.
